Welcome To The Marcia Inn
Nestled within the beautiful village of Bishopthorpe is, not just the Archbishop’s Palace, but the award-winning Marcia Inn.
In January 2013, Gary Penrose brought his vast knowledge and experience with him to help create a welcoming family-friendly pub which sits right at the heart of the community.
Award-Winning
A major refurbishment in May 2013 has provided a modern, contemporary dining pub with a ‘tap room’ style bar offering a wide range of local Cask Marque Accredité ales.
With the help of our team, we are passionate about providing a constant and excellent product with outstanding service. This has indeed been recognised with awards from Punch Taverns and Camra to name a few.
Quality Food and Local Ingredients
Our restaurant prides itself on serving delicious, traditional English pub classics plus other ever-changing seasonal daily specials.
Head Chef, Nick Petch, aided by his hard-working kitchen staff continuously deliver a creative offering using local produce and suppliers where possible.
Indeed, Nick’s dedication and experience with the help and support of our team and suppliers culminated in us becoming very proud recipients of a national award at the Seafish Fish and Chip Awards in London 2018.
Extensive Facilities
Function facilities are available for special events such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and more. We also have bespoke menus available for funeral teas.
Our tap room bar area, which is dog-friendly, boasts Sky TV on two screens and an array of drinks including six cask ales, four lagers and an extensive wine list.
Conservatory and Outdoor Areas
To the rear, we have a beautiful conservatory looking out onto an extensive patio area and garden which includes a large children’s play area.
Seasonal events such as barbecues and our new wood-fired pizzas take place here.
Events at The Marcia
Wednesday nights from 9pm see our very popular weekly quiz, with £1 entry per person with cash prizes and free supper.
There are also many annual events throughout the year including a beer festival, live music, ‘Meet The Brewer’ night, wine events and our bonfire and fireworks show in November.
